Dear Friends,
Today we would like to tell you about a water project.
His
Holiness has once again shared His Wishes with us which is to see te water project
at Druk Amitabha mountain
to be completed as quickly as possible.
For those
who are unfamiliar wiht the area, the Druk Amitabha monastery is located in
the hills
just on the outskirts of Katmandu in Nepal.
The idea
is to collect enough water during monsoon season to be able to provide 500 people
with drinking water during the 5 month drought season.
The objective
of the project is :
- to collect
the rain water,
- to treat the water to make it safe for drinking and ,
- to store and distribute it.
As announced
during the previous retreat, a geological study has been undertaken on site.
It has found the site to be appropriate for hosting
the three tanks that will store the fifteen hundrend cubin meters of water.
His Holiness
was able to begin the ground work for the first tank.
For those of you who have already been there, it is located in te jeep parking
area.
The second will be located near the clinic and the third one near the statue
of Buddha Amitabha.
His
Holiness has drawn our attention to the urgency of this project. The installation
of the first tank needs to be finished
within a month, before the start of the monsoon season.
This work must be completed quickly in order to have water during the five months of drought that will follow in 2008.
To conclude we would like to share with you the words of His Holiness :

"This
project will enable us to contribute to the well-being of the Sangha who is
practising virtue daily
at the Druk Amitabha monastery.
Helping now, in this tangible way, will allow the benefactors to share this
virtue
and to accumulate merit and good karma."
May our hearts be open to this cal for help.
Thank You
